Pretty much, which explains why I have few friends and fewer people I dine out with. One friend of a friend is so obnoxious that I refused to attend a party for my best buddy (at a restaurant I love). Won't do it for love nor money. The obnoxiousone insists that its ok because she is a huge tipper. My ass. Waiters, servers etc are not your bitch.
I'd almost agree with that, but with a small modification: You can tell everything you need to know about how someone treats people by how they treat their server.
Things you can't tell: shoe size, level of education, whether or not they're a poet...
Besides, if I was basing things on that alone, my ex and I would probably still be together.
Either or. My father can be very compassionate about many things but I don't think we've ever dined out where he hasn't had an issue. Which is why I always carry extra cash and "forget" something at the table so I can slip back and up the tip to 50% for the always-patient server.
Anonymous: Again, I agree; and, as I have said from the beginning: There are ALWAYS exceptions. Thank you for compensating your server--It definitely does NOT go unnoticed!

Ali: Fair enough. I see your point...I guess I was speaking more in a metaphoric sense as opposed to the literal...
